Any recommendations on new washers and dryers?

My old washer and dryer stopped working and are out of warranty. Does anybody know what kind I should buy? I don't have any specific needs except I want ones that will last long, not need many repairs, and are priced reasonably.Any recommendations on new washers and dryers?
I've been really pleased with my LG set. They are quiet, reliable and work great! I got a washer that also will dry the load of clothes and a companion regular dryer.





It's amazing to go to bed with a load of towels in the washer at night and to wake up to them dry!





I would recommend that whatever you get, you consider frontloaders. They save A LOT of water and wear and tear on your clothes. My clothes come out cleaner. The original cost is a little higher, but I find the extra price worth it.Any recommendations on new washers and dryers?
steer clear of anything with led readouts on the front.. they always go wrong first...
We like our General Electric brand appliances. They are reasonably priced and durable. We replaced our washer and drier 2 years ago, the last ones we had lasted 15 years.
i use the pink kenmore for all my gucci and then the green one for my prada clothes. they are excellent! duh!
whirlpool. I've had mine for a year, my parents had them for at least 10 years before that. I've never had a problem. And Whirlpool is a good, well-known brand so if you DID need repairs, it should be fairly easy to find someone to fix it.

Sears has good deals and warranties, I have had my w/d for 18 yrs now and have only replaced the heating element in the dryer
';Roper'; is a good brand. they are part of the whirlpool corporation, they are reasonably priced and they are supposed to last a really long time. plus their construction is very simple and if you need to fix it the repairs are simple. i haven't heard or seen any complaints about them
My personal opinion and experience is that you should purchase the simplest, stripped down version of both. The simple versions perform well, last longer and are cheaper and easier to repair when they go down. I'd rather nix all the bells and whistles and have less headaches.

I got them for the same price as frigidaire front loaders. They are super !


Check out the last years model as they are usually the same quality and will sell for 100- 150 less then the current model
Sears is very high priced.


Lowes, Home Depot, Circuit City and Fredder seem to beat them out on all appliances.





I have the Whirlpool Duet W/D. (Front loader washer).


I love them. They cost more than top load models, but the clothes are much cleaner and I use less water. The front load washer also spins so much more water out of the clothes in the spin cycle, that my dryer only runs about 35 minutes on average. I can also wash large items like quilts in the front loader that would normally have to go to the laundry mat.
The front loaders are the hot ones now, but they cost a lot of money (over $1K per unit). They are more energy efficient and are easier on your cloths.





The drawback is that they spin really really fast. If they aren't placed on a really stable floor (concrete), they will shake your whole house.





None of the appliances out now are of the same quality they were built with 20 years ago. I have a 20 year old Maytag washer that still works fine. I've been through 2 dryers in the last 8 years. I got a new GE dryer (gas) when I moved into my current house. It died after about 5 years and am now on the 2nd.
