Water heater is too hot and my faucet washers get mushy?

I noticed my faucet washers don't last long on the hot side of my valves. I think it is because the water is too hot or maybe my washers aren't very good. The faucset seat has been replaced, it is just that the washer on the hot side gets mushy. What is the recommended temp to have the water heater set at? What is the best brand of flat faucet washers to buy?Water heater is too hot and my faucet washers get mushy?
It seems most leaky faucets are due to washers on the Hot side. It might be due to sediment/minerals in the Hot Water Tank that break down the washers faster. (Wells are bad for this too)

We use ';Delta'; washersWater heater is too hot and my faucet washers get mushy?
Keep your hot water tank set at about 120 degrees F. This is hot enough for any household use, and has the added benefit of reducing the seriousness of scalding (especially for children). You will also use less electricity (or gas) to heat your water.

I don't know what the best brand of washer is, a good plumbing supply store should be able to help you. Or go with a washerless faucet set.
Hot water needs to be no higher than 120F. Anything more is really a waste. (as long as it meets your need)

The best washers are the ones that have no writing on them.

Check both sides. (hard to find)
