I have a toilet where the internal overflow keeps running. I have changed washers, adjusted the ball cock -?

I have changed the diaphragm washers and the ring washer, I have adjusted the ball cock and the water level - it was a drip at first but now runs constantly like a tap that has been leve on - has anyone any ideas?I have a toilet where the internal overflow keeps running. As others have suggested, change the valve, it sounds like it is passing water even when ball should be closing it.
Sounds as if the whole thing is worn out - buy a new fill valve assembly.
Replace the guts in the tank,it's only about $15,and easy to do.
replace ballcock w/ new one or the overflow tube is busted.
if the ballkok is fully submersed then the valve is not working. you may need to replace the whole thing...
If you lift the float arm, does the water stop? I suspect not. I think you need a new valve assembly.
change the fill valve
The whole thing needs replacing. They don't cost much.

Don't tell me they're censoring the word ball cock now. Oh ppplease!!
I've had the same problem before, you just have to face the fact that no matter what you do things wear out, just get a new one.

If you live in Australia, go to Bunnings or a hardware store and get a Fluid Master, they are just so much better than the conventional type.
Spend less than ten dollars and replace the stand inside the tank and don't drive yourself nuts with this. The water you waste will cost more. Make sure you replace the flapper too. That may be the source of your problem.
