I want to add on a full laundry room that is equipped like a laundromat: with multiple washers and dryers (except no coins). Just so we can get our laundry done in one stop. Three loads in and three loads out. It's a drag doing one load at a time. Is this unheard of? Ever see a home have this?Is it wrong to want to have several washers and dryers in my house?
I have not heard of a laundry room in a private home with multiple washers and dryers in one room.
I have heard of large homes built with walk-in closets in each bedroom with an alcove made to accommodate a stacking washer and dryer. In that arrangement each older child was taught to do their own laundry and the laundry never accumulated in a central place. This is a good idea for some and might be seen as excessive by others. Is it wrong to want to have several washers and dryers in my house?
I agree with the people who have answered thus far. I did once, however, think it would be nice to have two washers/dryers in the laundry room at my parents house, the room was big enough.
The only draw back I see to your idea, hiring a professional person/crew to build it, passing building codes, the expense, the cost of additional machines, water bill, hot water, causing your electric bill to go up a bit (all three machines at once if in peak use hours? too high!)
And, like one person mentioned, it is far better to do one load at a time, get things folded ? hung up before the things could get wrinkled.
Good idea, too expensive.
Take care.
If I were going to that, I'd start a Laundry Service. You will need the estra money to pay the utility bill. You could get the new front loader washers that wash extra large loads of clothes. I just couldn't imagine what you utility bill would be. Dryers are usually a 220AMP'S and they make your meters spin..........................
Question? How large is your family ? If I had a HUGE family I might would try something like that. Not really sure.......
That sounds sweet, you could even sit there and watch.
I would be happy with just one washer and dryer! LOL
If you have the room for it and don't mind a higher utility bills then why not.:)
Sounds like a fantastic idea!! It would also be handy to have a couple of spare machines in case some break down as well. Make sure you get upgraded power to the laundry to handle the operation of 5 or 6 machines at once as I have blown fuses in the past.
It seems like a waste of energy to me.
theres lots of stuff like that here... so, theres nothingwrong about that... afterall, its ur idead... just please ur self instead... ^___^V
Yeah, never actually heard of that before. But couldn't you spend your money better on something else?....
Yes, I've seen this before. With people who have 17 children!
Three loads per day? Every 3 days? Once a week? I'd prefer to do on load at a time, that way, nothing gets wrinkled at the bottom of a basket while I take care of the rest of the load.
That would be a first for me.......
yes it is wrong you should only have 1 of each unless you have lots of kids
when you were a kid did your parents make you were filthy clothes or somthing
why not pay me to do your laundry all that extra waste of money you were gonna buy extra washing machin es jack
If you have that much laundry to do, consider getting a commercial washing machine. Washing machines come in all sizes. Some hotels have huge machines that are taller than most people. - they have to be bolted to the slab.
Does seem like overkill...if you have the money for that, why not just pay someone to do your laundry? I often put in a load before going to bed, then transfer to dryer in the morning. Doesn't seem like such a burden that way,or transfer during commercials when watching TV. With your idea you'd need to do some major remodeling to allow for the multiple dryer vents and washer hookups. I doubt most homes would be able to accommodate, then there's the matter of not having enough hot water in your water heater to handle them all at once. In addition to the cost and hookups and hot water needed, they would take up a lot of space that your family members may prefer to use another way. I don't think it's a moral issue ';wrong';, just impractical. And whenever you go to sell your house I think buyers would not be interested.
A novel idea! I guess as long as you can afford to do it, both with money and space, why not?
:o)
